Do you want to contribute to the technical backbone of our biofuels business?

As a Technical Specialist at FincoEnergies, you will provide technical support to our sales, trading, and operations teams. You will assist in developing new and existing biofuels through assessments and testing and maintain technical documentation. You will enable our customers and teams to make technically sound, sustainable fuel choices. This position is based in either Rotterdam or Amsterdam and is full-time (40 hours per week).

Your responsibilities as a Technical Specialist

  • Provide technical support to our sales, operations, and trading teams on product quality, blending strategies, and customer queries.

  • Assist in designing blends and defining quality requirements that meet industry standards and client specifications.

  • Respond to technical inquiries, including advice on handling and using biofuels.

  • Support the creation of models to track fuel quality.

  • Conduct technical assessments of new biofuels through literature reviews and laboratory and engine testing.

  • Research and evaluate additives to optimize product performance.

  • Maintain close relationships with laboratories, engine test partners, and other technical stakeholders.

  • Manage technical documentation, including up-to-date Product Spec Sheets and Product Handling Guidelines.

  • Provide guidance and documentation to customers, including sample management and usage advice.

  • Stay informed on the latest developments in fuel regulations and the competitive landscape.

  • Support internal projects related to innovation and product development within the International Marine division.

As our new Front Runner you bring

  • A bachelor's or master’s degree in a technical discipline such as chemical engineering, sustainable energy, mechanical engineering, or something related.

  • 1–3 years of experience in a technical or support role within the energy, petrochemical, or maritime sector.

  • A keen interest in biofuels, engines, and sustainable fuels innovation.

  • Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, formulas, simple models) and PowerPoint and experience with Word.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, Dutch is a plus.

  • A driver’s license and willingness to visit ships, barges, terminals, and partners (approx. once every two weeks).

  • Readiness to obtain a basic VCA certificate if not already in possession.

  • A valid residence and work permit for the Netherlands.
    We prefer candidates who do not require visa sponsorship.
