Do you want to contribute to the technical backbone of our biofuels marine business?

As a Technical Compliance Specialist at FincoEnergies, you will play a key role in supporting our marine biofuel activities from a technical and regulatory compliance perspective. You will support our sales, trading and operations teams by ensuring compliance with applicable sustainability, fuel quality, transport, and regulatory frameworks (such as ISCC, RED, ISO, MARPOL, ADN, the Environmental Laws and the Transport for Energy Regulation). You will assist in maintaining technical and/or compliance documentation/procedures, supporting audits, and enabling our customers and internal teams to make technically sound and compliant sustainable fuel choices. This position is based in Rotterdam and ​full-time (40 hours per week).

Your responsibilities as a Technical Specialist

  • Provide technical and regulatory support to our sales, operations, and trading teams on biofuels, product quality, sustainability compliance, blending strategies, and customer queries, and transport regulations (such as ISCC, RED-III, FuelEU Maritime, EU ETS, ADN and MARPOL);

  • Support internal and external audits related to sustainability certifications and regulatory compliance;

  • Advise internal stakeholders and customers on product handling, transport, storage, blending, and usage requirements for biofuels and biofuel blends;

  • Advise internal stakeholders and customers on transport regulations and product compliance;

  • Assist in reviewing and maintaining up-to-date operational procedures to ensure compliance with sustainability and transport legislation;

  • Maintain close relationships with laboratories, surveyors, terminals and other technical and (internal and external) compliance stakeholders;

  • Manage technical documentation, including up-to-date Product Spec Sheets and Product Handling Guidelines;

  • Provide guidance and documentation to customers, including sample management and usage advice;

  • Stay informed on the latest developments in fuel regulations, sustainability legislation, transport regulations, and the competitive landscape;

  • Support internal projects related to innovation, compliance, and product development within the International Marine division.

Your Talents

  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate complex technical and regulatory requirements data into practical advice;

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with commercial, operational, technical, and operational compliance teams (both internally as well as externally);

  • Customer-focused attitude with excellent communication skills;

  • Proactive, curious, and eager to learn in a fast-moving and innovative environment;

  • Structured and detail-oriented, with a strong sense of ownership and compliance awareness, and a hands-on mentality;

  • Affinity with sustainability, renewable fuels, compliance, and maritime logistics.

As our new Front Runner you bring

  • A bachelor's or master’s degree in a technical discipline such as chemical engineering, sustainable energy, mechanical engineering, maritime studies, environmental sciences, or a something related field.

  • 1–3 years of experience in a technical, compliance or support-related role within the energy, (petro)chemical, renewables or maritime sector.

  • Affinity with the Renewable Energy Directive (RED), sustainability certification schemes, fuel regulations, and transport regulations.

  • Understanding of biofuels, fuel logistics, blending operations, and/or maritime fuel supply chains is considered a strong plus.

  • Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, formulas, simple models) and PowerPoint and Word.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, Dutch is a plus.

  • A driver’s license and willingness to visit ships, barges, terminals, and partners;

  • Readiness to obtain a basic VCA certificate if not already in possession.

  • A valid residence and work permit for the Netherlands.

    We prefer candidates who do not require visa sponsorship.
