Job description

Are you ready to shape the future of sustainable shipping?

We are a leading independent provider of sustainable energy solutions for transport. Our International Marine division supplies fuels to seagoing vessels across the ARA region. Since acquiring GoodFuels in 2020, FincoEnergies has become one of the most established biofuel bunker suppliers in the shipping industry, driving sustainability in a traditionally fossil-fuel-dominated sector.

As biofuels generally come at a premium compared to traditional fuels, FincoEnergies continually pioneers solutions to distribute this cost premium across multiple stakeholders in the shipping value chain. With the upcoming FuelEU Maritime legislation, new opportunities are emerging to share compliance costs across shipping companies, and we’ve developed a unique proposition to optimize these costs through a pooling mechanism.

To lead this strategic initiative, we seek an experienced Business Manager to spearhead the development, commercialization, monitoring, and reporting of our FuelEU Maritime pooling proposition within the International Marine division. In this role, you will have P&L responsibility and the opportunity to shape the proposition further.

We are looking for a candidate with a strong network in the shipping industry who is capable of leveraging these relationships. While we have offices in Hamburg, Rotterdam, and Amsterdam, we are flexible regarding location and welcome candidates from key shipping hubs such as Copenhagen, Hamburg, Athens. Remote or hybrid, open to candidates located within the European Union.

Your responsibilities as a Business Manager

  • Lead the development, launch, and success of new business activities (propositions or services) within International Marine.

  • To drive business growth, build and maintain strong relationships with key industry stakeholders (customers, partners and regulatory parties).

  • Take commercial responsibility for the performance of the new business, supported by the team.

  • Report to the division board on the development and performance of the new businesses.

  • Drive commercialization efforts and expand the customer base for new propositions.

  • Monitor and analyze financial results and operational data to optimize business initiatives.

  • Stay informed on industry trends, legislative developments, and emerging technologies to maintain leadership in sustainable shipping

Your Talents

  • Proven track record in business development and project leadership within the shipping, maritime, logistics, or energy sectors, with at least 5+ years of experience driving successful commercial initiatives.

  • Strong project management skills, with a demonstrated ability to manage complex, cross-functional projects.

  • Good communication and presentation skills, with the ability to create compelling business proposals, lead client negotiations, and deliver persuasive presentations to technical and non-technical audiences.

  • In-depth knowledge of the shipping industry, including emerging trends in biofuels, sustainability initiatives, and regulatory frameworks such as the IMO GHG strategy and other relevant environmental regulations.

  • Demonstrable commercial acumen, including experience developing and promoting new products, services, or commercial propositions to customers, focusing on increasing market share and achieving revenue targets.

  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to assess market data, identify business trends, and translate insights into actionable business strategies. Experience with financial modelling, market analysis, and ROI assessments is advantageous.

As our new Front Runner you bring

  • A bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Maritime Studies, Environmental Science, or a related field (MBA or Master’s degree preferred).

  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously in identifying, pursuing, and closing business opportunities.

  • An established and active network of industry contacts across the shipping and maritime sectors, with proven experience in leveraging relationships for business growth.

  • Fluency in English; proficiency in additional languages is a plus.

  • A personal drive to contribute to the energy transition in shipping.

Our promise to you

  • A strong salary based on experience & competencies and attractive yearly bonus potential;

  • 8% holiday allowance;

  • A collective pension plan with two-thirds covered by FincoEnergies;

  • A yearly budget of € 900,- gross for your well-being and development;

  • An annual training budget of € 2000,- gross to support your professional development;

  • 25 vacation days (based on full-time employment);

  • Entrepreneurial and sustainable environment providing growth and development opportunities;

  • A new Laptop and phone;

  • The opportunity to work at our headquarters in Rotterdam, or our offices in Amsterdam or Hamburg;

  • Great internal events that blow you away.
